Partnership Parenting

Neighbors, family and extended family members have always been a support to families and children in need. Regardless of need or circumstance, every family has value; every family has its own unique strengths. Even with support systems, there are times when families need additional support.

The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is the agency called upon to intervene in cases of child abuse or neglect. When children have to be removed from their birth families, they may be placed with Partnership Parents, once called foster parents.

While children are in care Partnership Parents are responsible for their day-to-day care and decisions regarding care, maintenance and welfare; actively consults with birth parents and agency on religious upbringing, discipline, education, moral training, social and recreational activities, and non-emergency medical and dental care.
