Parenting To Do List

Partnership Parenting is a rewarding and challenging job that takes planning and preparation.  The following is a “to do” list to help you get organized.

  • Meet with foster care worker at least once a month; most home visits are scheduled during the week.
  • Coordinate school, extracurricular activities and medical appointments with birth parents; share information with them if they do not attend.
  • Help with homework
  • Participate in family visits
  • Pick up and drop off children at school
  • Include children in evening and morning routine
  • Coordinate day care  or before / after school care
  • Keep DFCS up to date on progress, changes, successes and challenges
  • Plan for sick days
  • Plan, schedule and transport to doctor / dentist / therapist
  • Find out what training is required by my Local School System for Educational Surrogates
  • Keep a set routine for the children
  • Attend PTA Meetings
  • Meet with teachers
  • Commit to the foster children placed in your home
  • Coordinate play dates with siblings in other placements
